Kevin Conley came by this morning and we made the drive to Fleming/Bath Co. Lines on old faithful Slate creek. We hunted about 3 hours and treed about a dozen squacks and looked at 10 and bagged 7. Old Brownie is still the gal around here and as usual put an a show treeing these big fat lazy fox squirrels.
My Name is Jack Buckley and we are the home of the original BUCKLEY MOUNTAIN FEIST squirrel dogs. We have sold 100's of them over the last 60 plus years. Many are breeding our dogs that come from my kennels (Greytails Kennels) generations ago. If you are looking for the original Buckley Mountain Feist contact Jack Buckley. @ 606-226-1199 We now have one of our females bred 9-20-21 pups due 11-20-21. I have some deposits already for this litter and only taking two more.

Spike
Pat Evans of KY sent this pic of his young squirrel dog Spike he bought from us as a raw pup last fall.. Its really pleases me seeing others enjoying these little Buckley Mountain Feist squirrel dogs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been hunting my 15 month old Buckley dog (Taz X LT) pretty hard the last two weeks and he is really turning on. He has treed over 50 in the last 8-9 hunts I have had him out. Hunting him mostly by himself, I think he is going to be a nice dog. Made 5 trees on a short hunt tonight, saw 4, killed 3. Not a great picture, made with my phone. It was getting dark. Thanks for looking. Pat Evans.

birthday cake
Well today is my 57th birthday. Not sure what kind of cake if any i'll get today. But I thought I would share a cake my wife made for me a few years ago.
Brownie and Kevin Conley
Kevin drove over this morning so we loaded up some dogs and drove a 1 hour and ½ west of here. Ole Brownie hasn’t been out of the kennels since last season but boy she hasn’t missed a beat. We treed around 18 times, saw 12 and bagged 9.
Its hard to beat being out in the autumn woods hunting squirrels with a dog..

I always enjoy hearing hunting stories other are enjoying with their squirrel dogs.. Below is a hunt that Sterling Earheart shared with me yesterday hunting his young Buckley Mountain Feist dog and his 6 month old Galla Creek pup. Its hard to beat the enjoyment of seeing a pup tree its first squirrel.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Made a little hunt yesterday with Louan and Greta. Louan treed five times saw two missed one and the other one didn't give a shot.
But I have to tell Greta's story. Louan was off hunting, Greta was out in front of me she got excited and ran into a thicket and got after a squirrel timbered it through the thicket and into a big oak was jumping up on the tree so I shot it out. Squirrel hit the ground took off Greta right after it, it ran up another tree Greta grabbed it off tree and the chase was on. It finally got into a hollow log, but didn't get away Greta stayed with it till I got there and made a hole big enough for her to get to it. This is not the first squirrel she has worked but she did good really on this one. Here is a picture of Greta and her first wild squirrel on the tailgate. Today is her 6 month birthday.

Bargers Cookie North Carolina Mountain Feist
Chuck Barger sent me these pics of his Cookie pup out of our AQUA & TAZ dogs.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Jack - Fyi, Update from the Tarheel state... wanted to
share a couple pics of Cookie and her first kill on Friday,10-16-09, at
5 1/2 months old, she treed and stayed until I could get a gun and shoot
it to her and man was she fired up when it hit the ground!...now when I
tell her to get the squirrel she flips a switch and charges out hunting
for something to be shot out to her, that's what good breeding will do,
and she is heading in the right direction. I'm gonna need a new pair of
boots at the end of the season, ha!...regards, Chuck Barger

Mugsy & Fruity are a pair of LT X Pumpgun Mountain feist females Em decided to keep for our kennels. Mugsy has already joined the prick eared club and has been in it since birth. Fruity is about 3/4 ‘s there at 8 weeks.
Tennessee Mountain Feist
I took 7 month on Seven (Jo Black X Buckley's Princess) for a quick round this morning. Seven treed four times I found one for a 25% average. The one I did find, I missed twice before it made it's way into a cedar thicket. My locating the squirrel average is 25%, my shooting Mr. Squirrel average remains at ZERO Should have had Crappieman with me.
