Buckley's Jeb 9-23-09 002
By Roger Littlejohn;
Ol Jeb is making Sterling a real squirrel dog :-)
He treed two lay ups yesterday that was impressive. We finally found both of the squirrels in the very tip top of the trees but it was interesting to watch him use his nose and narrow the search to what turned out to be the right trees in a thick area. Both trees were big cedars...me and Sterling (using binoculars) about looked the bark off them two trees before we found the squirrels. Both squirrels were young males.
Jeb treed a few other times but we just could not find the squirrels, but he made a believer out of both of us that he knows when ones up there.....like everyone else this time of year we're lucky if we can find half of what's being treed.

Took my Buckley pup "Seven" (Joe Black X Buckley's Princess) out for an early morning round and he made his first solo tree. The squirrel timbered on him for a good 50 yards before hitting a big Cedar den tree, but Seven stayed right with him, barking every step. Hope you enjoy these cell phone pictures. Hunting Seven with Crappieman's Buckley dogs last weekend got him all fired up

Crappieman and I took the Buckley Bunch for another short round this evening. Treed 6, saw 3, got 2. That's a good outing around here with mast kinda spotty this year. Pictured with Crappieman and Mr. Squack are Seven, Jeb & Louan....all Pricked Eared Buckley Bred Feist. At 6 months old, Seven's not treeing on his own yet, but running with Jeb and Louan let's him see how it's done. Thanks for viewing.

seven & louan
Sterling Earheart of Mt Juliet Tennessee sends me these two pictures of two Tennessee mountain Feist Squirrel dogs treeing themselves a wild squirrel.

Sterling Writes;
Me and Littlejohn made a round with Seven, Louan and Sam this afternoon. Treed three but didn't bring home the meat. You will have to ask Littlejohn why, ha ha, I'm not saying.
He did knock one out and they ran him to a den. And I got some pictures with the cell phone of Seven on the tree. He barked on it pretty good, he could smell him good and was excited. Sterling

lou's fall sq
Sterling Earheart of Mt' Juliet TN. sent me this pic of his Tennessee Feist Louan "red head" and his Gala Creek Greta " lemon head". Thanks for the pic Sterling.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I took Louan for a round yesterday evening and she treed one, as I was going to her it timberd out and you'd be proud of this shot. the sq was timbering about 40 yds through a big hickory tree Louan right under him. I shot 1 time sq fell out Louan grabed him when he hit the ground. I was a little surprised I hit him, but glad I took the shot. Louan was glad too. I had Greta with me too. They both liked the heart and liver and stuff.
Greta is a 4 month old pup from Galla Creek.
Sterling
I'll try to get a picture of Jeb soon.
