Hey Jack , want to give you an update on Gunner. Had him to the Vet yesterday , got his shots and stuff, he weighed in at 22.7 lbs. he's just 4 months and still has a lot of leg under him to grow into. I also wanted to send you a pic of my tomato plants. I have 2 plants in an earthbox....you can find them on line. Both plants are over 9 ft tall and have 50 tomatoes between the two and still blooming. I saw your pic of the blackberries, we've picked 2 gal. in the last two weeks. this has been a very good year for berries, most of them were as big as the end of your thumb.

Buckley Mountain Feist pup
Shadow is another Treeing Feist puppy we’re keeping for 2009. She is out of Buckley Aqua X Buckley Taz and now 10 weeks old in this pic. She is a bundle of fire and proud as can bee. She keeps that little natural bob tail rolled over her back all the time. She was born with prick ears.

Black berries
Took a couple mutts with me today to keep the snakes off and went black berry picking. The mutts treed several times but I never took time to take a pic of them. I was thinking black berry cobbler, black berry dumplings, black berry pie, black berry jelly and black berry wine. l shared that with the better 1/2 and she tells me I need to come up with about 20 more gal. if that was what I was thinking.

Mississippi alligator
Tyler Murphy of Carrouton Mississippi sent me this picture of a big bad alligator that got caught in a fishing net and drown. He was huge. He said they had to retrieve the gator and they are protected and highly regulated in Mississippi.
Boy folks what if we had those in our streams and ponds here in KY we wouldn’t be doing much frog gigging would we?
Thanks for the pic Tyler

Young dogs & pups preseason training 2009
I took a couple young dogs" Princess & Aqua" and couple pups " Snowflake & Boots"for a short run this morning and let them three a couple wild mountain gray squirrels. They started out treeing this squack on the outside of this big beech. After a while it decided to run down the tree in the hole. This had these Prick eared Feist fired up.

gunner
Gunner is a pup out of Buckley's Bunny X Buckley's Bigun that I let Bill Richardson in Ohio have a few weeks back. Bill sent me this pic and writes;
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey Jack, I've been meaning to drop you a line. Gunner is doing fine now but its been a tough month. At 8 weeks old my 14 year old Black Lab bit Gunner over a dog treat. I couldn't believe it because they had been sleeping and playing together for a couple of weeks. It wasn't much of a bite , it never broke the skin but the pressure from the bite popped Gunners right eye out of the socket. Luckily our vet is only a couple miles away and we got him treatment with in 10 min of the accident. The vet was able to put the eye back in and sew the eyelid shut. After the couple of weeks the swelling went down , took out the stitches and our vet determined that he will be blind in his right eye . Its still healing and I think he may be able to see some light / shadows. During all of this Gunner never acted hurt. He's one tough dog. I was still able to train him some, I've worked him on a squirrel tail and general obedience stuff. He's retrieving and chasing chipmunks. I put him on squirrel that was in the yard the other day, the squirrel ran off before we could get out of the house but Gunner trailed him for about 40 yards or so. I had him retrieving golf balls after dark one night, not bad for a little dog with one eye Check out the attached pics. I think he looks like his daddy. I'll keep you updated with his progress.
